From Failure to Finance: The Rise of ThatGirlWithStocks

The Rise of ThatGirlWithStocks

#ThatGirlWithStocks didn't start as a plan.

It started with a failure.

For three years straight, I had dedicated everything to studying for the RBI Grade B exam.

And at the end of each year, all I got was rejection.

I was stuck in an unending cycle of failed expectations. Fear was rising, while the world moved forward.

I wasn't just failing an exam; I was losing the version of myself which I had built.

In some strange twist of fate, I turned to trading—partly out of curiosity, mostly out of desperation.

It was a weird time—2020, the markets were all over the place.

And for a brief moment, so was my optimism.

Then the losses came, and with them, silence.

I quit trading. I attempted the RBI Grade B, but I failed again.

I had no job. I had no plan. And I didn't have permission to even leave my hometown.

The only thing I could do was teach school kids to earn money.

It was unspectacular. It was unflattering. It was not a glorified Instagram version of my existence.

But it was a start.

Then one day, my friend asked me if I could explain some investing concepts. I did.

Then another friend asked me.

And before I knew it, something clicked.

Turns out, maybe all those years I spent studying did not go to waste.

Perhaps I could teach finance, the way I wished someone had taught me—simply and clearly, as a human.

I posted an Insta story:

"Anyone interested in learning stock market basics?"

Nine people responded.

And just like that, #ThatGirlWithStocks was born.

No logo. No team. No lofty vision.

Just one girl trying to help people understand finance.

Two years later, we've taught over 200 students.

And not because I nailed an exam.

It's because I stopped waiting for someone to tell me to go.

That's the secret nobody tells you: You don't need the world to say yes.

You just need to say yes to yourself, once.

And really mean it.

That is how revolutions start, even the quiet ones.
