How Deep Batra Built KettleBerry Coffee in Bengal to Make Premium Coffee Affordable

KettleBerry was more than just a concept to open a coffee company. It started with a belief that something made in Bengal could dream bigger than Bengal.
My journey started with coffee, but it was about creating something of my own. I started small, with just one café – sleepless nights, hundreds of failed experiments, and days where everything just went south.
But every customer and every failure taught me what the market needed.
I realized that the Indian market wanted a better cup of coffee, which came with a price. A cost in the form of premium pricing, complex options, and an exclusivity that alienated most.
I wanted to change this narrative. I wanted to ask the market a question: Why can’t good coffee simply be good, consistent, and affordable?
This was the philosophy that eventually birthed KettleBerry Coffee.
We are building a 360° coffee company, from the home brewer to the café, and from the individual to the HORECA segment. But we want to be more than a “coffee company”. We want to build an Indian coffee brand that people can identify with and grow with.
As we expand our footprint across the country and the globe, my biggest aspiration for the brand will always be to prove that premium doesn’t always have to be premium-priced.
I never set out to build just another brand, but I believe that a great company is only as good as its roots. And if there is one lesson that I have learnt on this journey, it is that you don’t have to sacrifice quality for accessibility – all you need is the conviction and courage to do things differently.
KettleBerry will continue to grow, with new products, segments, and customers. We have a long way to go, but I know exactly where I want to take the company. From humble beginnings in Bengal, we are now looking forward to making inroads across India and, soon, the globe.
Start Better. Start with KettleBerry.
