Veronika Kim on Motherhood, Transitions, and Building Balansize

Watching my mother carry the burden of our home with such grace shaped my understanding of what an invisible load feels like. - Veronika Kim

As I experienced my own transitions — relocating to new cities, rebuilding my career, forming new relationships and leaving them behind. I realized how deeply these constant changes affect a woman’s well-being.

I began my journey as a woman moving through transitions, trying to stay grounded as life kept shifting around me.

For many years, I was an independent woman focused on my career.

I travelled, worked hard, and built an organizational identity I was proud of.

But when I became a mother, everything changed.

My balance disappeared; I wasn’t the person I had been before.

Emotionally, mentally, and physically, I felt different.

I didn’t know what postpartum issues were, and online resources only increased my confusion.

By the time I finished reading, it felt like sitting in front of a puzzle with scattered or missing pieces.

This confusion led to the birth of Balansize.

Women don’t need generic wellness applications created by someone who hasn’t lived this journey.

Women need a companion who understands each stage of life with compassion and intelligence.

The mission of Balansize is to create a comprehensive, holistic approach to women's health and wellness based on real experiences.

I dealt with uncertainty, family issues, financial constraints, and struggles with my self-confidence.

Everything began to turn around for me when I pitched my concept for Balansize at the EBS Incubator Program at Heriot-Watt University.

I was fortunate to be selected as one of the top 10 finalists from around 120 other competing candidates.

This gave me the confidence to invest my own capital in my venture even without the background knowledge in software development.

Then I began to learn, innovate, and design.

My next significant step in my journey was being invited to join the Creates App Accelerator & Competition program conducted by Dubai's Chamber of Digital Economic Innovation; I was selected from eight other applicants whose apps were also of excellent quality.

While I did not win, I was awarded the status of "High Potential" App, which enabled me to participate in the Creates Incubator and become part of the Creates Ambassador Programme.

Their assistance led to the development of my idea into a full-fledged product.

At this moment, I am recognized as a Creates App Ambassador and am also actively helping to mentor new Creates App developers and other EBS Incubator Program Participants.

Currently, Balansize is undergoing beta testing. With new subscribers joining daily, we are growing rapidly!

It is exciting to see how far we have come and to think of how much we will accomplish together as women support each other on our journey — One Life at a Time!
